Craft Beer Heaven at the NYC Craft Beer Festival!

So on a sunny little day in March, I journeyed to a lovely large place that had a wonderful sign posted outside the front welcoming craft beer enthusiasts from all regions of the states.

As I walk into the Lexington Armory – I stop dead in my tacks.

I look to my co-worker and said, “I think we found beer heaven.”

beer heaven

She agreed and we made our grand entrance into the wild brew-gallery of the most unique and delicious crafts beers New York City has ever seen.

Now, as a young millennial, I am searching for the latest and greatest in the craft beer world. I admit that cider is my go-to treat, but after this festival my brew-knowledge was lifted to a whole new level of deliciousness.

And of course…

Angry Orchard! But I already tried that one C;

Moving on, we grabbed ourselves the most delicious pretzel I have ever had. No seriously, this pretzel must have been caressed by the most delicious beers while baking to a crisp.

I obviously could not contain myself and started eating before I snapped a picture. #sorrynotsorry

Many of the tables had a representative from the brewing company! I was able to meet the representative for Angry Orchard and I could not be more exited. I give the festival a 4.5 out of a 5 start rating – the only thing I would have liked to see is the similar beers/ciders near each other to make it a little easier to navigate, other than that it was a complete success!

When the day was over we left with our complementary beer/shot glass, we were absolutely over the moon and left with wonderful memories of delicious craft beers.

I will be attending next year and already can’t wait!

Seriously, do not miss out. I will see you there! (:

You will see me again soon, my good Sir’s.

How to Drink Beer Like a Sir: Raise Your Glass

So you want to drink beer like a Sir, eh?

Well you’ve clicked on the right blog!

After reading the introduction to this serious of swag-ness, you are now ready to proceed to the next step: Raising Your Glass

Did you really think you could just drink any old can or glass of beer and magically obtain the qualities of a Sir? I think not.

The second rule of drinking beer like a Sir is to always drink from a sir-worthy glass.

Now, thanks to Beer Advocate we can review and understand why the following glasses are more than just sir-worthy. Beer Advocate also displays the beers that go best with each glass!

Beer Advocate, you deserve a Sir-tificate for Raising your Glass.

sir-tificate

So why does the glass matter?

Because sir-worthy beers deserve sir-worthy glasses.

You would never see a delicious Stella Artois at its full potential being enjoyed from silly little can, would you? Maybe the glass bottle that it comes in…but there are exceptions when it comes to football season and other outing events. BUT when you’re in the comfort of your own quarters enjoying a spectacular Stella Artois, YOU ARE NOT going to settle for the glass it’s packaged in.

No Sir!

You are a strong, independent lad or lass and you TAKE PRIDE in your beer so you grab that tulip glass, RAISE IT HIGH, and cheers to the INCREDIBLE LIFE that gave you the PRIVILEGE of drinking this beer!

I mean, Stella Artois does use a tulip glass in their advertising, so it’s completely justified.

stella

So there you have it. Choose your glass wisely because you have a variety to choose from! From a Weizen glass to a Pilsner glass, your beer deserves to be treated like a Sir. Don’t let me down ladies & gents; I know you will make me proud with your beer-filled, fancy-named glasses.

Have an impressive sir-worthy glass that you would like to share? Tweet @stephaniirosee and show it off!

A picture says a thousand words, and since there are so many wonderful things to tell you about this festival, I think you should come and see for yourself!

LOOK AT ALL THE CRAFT BEER TABLES.

That, my friends – is a paradise fit for a Sir.

Now as for the craft beer selection – I have a few down on my list that I must try, but I am also looking for some follower suggestions! Tweet @stephaniirosee and let me know what craft beers you recommend! Click here now and tweet it to me! NYC Festival Craft Beer Selection 2013

How to Drink Beer Like a Sir: An Introduction

You see, even in 2013 a lot of women think that drinking beer is a manly man’s activity. Well ladies, I am here to squash that trend and redefine your desire to enjoy a nice cold beer. Now don’t get alarmed, but what I am about to tell you is the secret to not just drinking a beer, but enjoying a beer like a sir.

Let’s start off by defining the title, sir.

According to Merriam-Webster, the term sir is “used as a polite or respectful way of addressing a man, especially one in a position of authority: ‘excuse me, sir’.”

Beer Post 1Well ladies, I am here to give you the authority to drink that beer.

In this day of age, we openly use sir to describe a human being who is acting with swagger. Now let’s proceed by defining the word, swagger. Swagger, according to UrbanDictionary.com, is “how one presents his or her self to the world. Swagger is shown from how the person handles a situation…”

So I would like to take the liberty of practicing my freedom of speech by clarifying the definition of swagger to be “how one presents his or her self to the world” in a manner of awesomeness. Like beer, a simple carbonated, malt beverage with the hidden power of unleashing your awesomeness, swagger,  & abilities of a sir.

Allow me to introduce my new series to kick spring into season, How to Drink Beer Like a Sir; The Complete Works.

Stay tuned for next week’s post; How to Drink Beer Like a Sir; Raise Your Glass

#SCBD Grapefruit ‘Beer’mosa Recipe

I’ll admit it ever since I moved closer to New York City I’ve definitely become a “bruncher.” I believe here is no better way to enjoy the weekend then with a mimosa and your favorite brunch or lunch dish. Last night after I bought a six pack of Blue Moon I had this random epiphany to make a Beermosa (a mimosa with beer instead of champagne) this weekend and that I did.

Here’s my recipe inspired by this beermosa recipe from SheKnows.com

grapefruit blue moon beermosa

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (more or less) of Grapefruit Juice (or juice of choice)
  • 1/2 cup (more or less) of Blue Moon

Instructions:

  • Pour about 1/2 cup of Grapefruit into glass
  • Pour Blue Moon into glass, let sit
  • Once it fizzes it’s ready
  • Kick back, relax, & enjoy!

I love this take on a the classic mimosa, so if you are in the mood for beer with your brunch and love juice as much as I do, grab a tall glass & make a beermosa!

Cheers! 😀

‘Tis the Season for Cider!

angry-orchard-crisp-apple-hard-cider

Welcome to the Holly, Jolly, Orchard!

“ONCE UPON A TIME CIDER WAS THE DRINK OF CHOICE. WE’VE BEEN MAKING CIDERS FOR DECADES… NOW WE WANT TO SHARE THEM WITH YOU. BRANCH OUT AND EXPERIENCE YOUR ANGRY ORCHARD.”

Why yes, I am kicking off my first SCBD blog post with some cider!

Sincere the holidays are here I wanted to put the spotlight on my favorite cider,
Angry Orchard Apple Crisp!

I was introduced to the Angry Orchard ciders for the first time this year. I was looking for a drink that was not-so-beer-like and I came across these delicious ciders! There are three different types: Traditional Dry, Apple Ginger, and of course, Apple Crisp. All are absolutely delicious, but my favorite is the apple crisp.

angry orchard 1

Let me break down the different flavors to give you a better picture of what these unique ciders consist of:

First up is the Traditional Dry: This unique taste is all about the spice, with a bittersweet apple taste. If you are looking for a cider that is close to a beer taste, this one is the perfect choice out of the three. Simple & delicious.

Second we have the Apple Ginger: As you can probably guess, this cider has a nice tart blend of ginger and apple. It is a unique, but refreshing taste that you will either love or hate.

And finally, my personal favorite – Apple Crisp: This perfect combination of apple and cider produces an unbelievable mouth-gasm of flavor. I greatly enjoy traditional apple cider. Ya’ know, the kind you get when you go pumpkin picking that comes both hot and cold? Well this is very close to that, however, it is tweaked for adult happiness and does not push the apple. There is nothing more annoying than an over load of flavor, however, I enjoy drinking a cider that makes me feel as though I am drinking sparkling cider or soda.

WARNING. Due to these deliciously smooth flavors – you may loose track of how many you’ve had. (;

Perfect cider serving event idea?

Call up a few friends, wear your ugliest holiday sweater, cook some finger foods, and pop open an angry orchard as the warm fire lights up the room.

Enjoy!

Sincerely,
Fräulein Rose

#SCBD loves: Shake Shack (Madison Square Park)

A few weeks ago, well before Wingfest to be precise. My roommate Leah & I took a trip over to the Madison Square Park location of Shake Shack since the event was in the area. It was actually my first time at Shake Shack, which was even more motivating for me to try it. I actually won a gift card for Shake Shack from Black Board Eats (New York). Black Board Eats is  one of the top foodie deal sites I know, they give you 20-30% off some of Manhattan’s best restaurants weekly. So I highly recommend you sign up & check out their weekly deals.

Shake Shack, Madison Square Park

So with gift card in hand, it was time to order from Shake Shack. Mind you, the line was long but thats expected and totally worth it! We decided to get cheese fries to split and each got a Shack Burger with beers. Leah got the Oktoberfest special beer they had available and I got the Shackmeister beer. I had to try the classic beer they serve and judge it for myself. It was what I would like to call our pre-Wingfest ‘linner’ (meal between lunch & dinner but it’s not brunch!)

Our burgers, cheese fries, & beers from Shake Shack– delish!

So here’s what I thought:

  1. My burger was delicious, great on flavor and size. I’m big on eating good portions and Shake Shack’s are perfect.
  2. Cheese Fries are some of the best cheese fries I’ve had (now I want some!) It’s a delicious mix of their Shack cheddar & American cheese sauce, on top of their perfectly cooked fries.
  3. I had low expectations for the beer, but Shackmeister beer was great. Not too heavy,  just perfect. I wish I could’ve brought a case home with me! It was also a perfect compliment to my meal.
  4. Oh yeah how can I forget, even though I had a gift card– the prices aren’t too bad & totally worth it. It’s a perfect deal because you can get a meal for two for no more than $30! I love it!

Yes, I’ll say it, I’m hooked and am now a loyal Shake Shack fan. Next time I go of course I also plan on trying a shake. I was really impressed with the burgers, beer, and fries– Shake Shack is worth the wait!

Danny Meyer is definitely doing something right with Shake Shack in the city, now can he bring it to Jersey?

I think I might just have to stop at Shake Shack when I’m in NYC this weekend!

Well I have tons more coming up for you all this week– stay tuned! 😀
