#DealAlert Get A Bang For Your Buck At Biggies!

If you are in the mood for a great meal that is HUGE, filling, and flavorful then Biggie’s is the place for you. I’ve been to two of their three locations in Jersey since they have two in Hoboken and one in Carlstadt. My favorite location is Carldstadt because it’s about 20 minutes away from me and conveniently close to MetLife Stadium.

Anytime I’ve gone to Biggie’s, I’ve got a bang for my buck. There appetizers are big enough to share and made just right (pictured below). I highly recommend the Thai Chili Calamari which will give your taste buds a treat. If you love the wings and thin crust pizza get them while you are there, they are also must-haves. It’s an ideal location for night out with friends, family or even a date. I have yet to have an entree or sandwich there but I’ve heard they are just as big and delicious and plan on trying one of their signature sandwiches during my next visit. Check out their full menu at the Carlstadt location, here.

If all that good food doesn’t have you in the mood for Biggie’s now, then maybe this will. They have $5 martini’s all day everyday, and they aren’t boring flavors either they range from Lychee, Peach, Bellini, and more! I love the martini glasses that they are served in because they add a little flair. The drink menu has a good variety and is affordable in general which is always a plus.

Next time you are headed to North Jersey make sure you make Biggie’s one of your dining destinations. Biggie’s has delicious food & cocktails, football, a family friendly atmosphere, and a great staff. Just talking about it makes me want a Lychee Martini & their calamari.

Biggie’s is #SCBDApproved!

Cheers!

#SCBD– A Concept that Started A Year Ago, Still A Work in Progress!

When I started this blog a year ago, well this week a year ago to be exact– I had no idea where it would take me, the opportunities it would bring me, etc. If you read my story you know I was just interning at The Rachael Ray Show in the field, post, & production departments and in the my 2nd to last semester of my Senior year at Fairleigh Dickinson University. On the Wednesday’s I interned I’d always tell my peers I interned with the best deals I found for lunch which would usually be Blarney Stone, or my craving for Potbelly. I was the deal finder of the gang and I took the title proudly. I’d also constantly look for deals on Twitter & Midtown Lunch. Thursday’s were also filled with great food experiences on set or just sharing a meal during the field department, never a dull moment.

As I mentioned in my story I was also involved with the Intern Queen Campus Ambassador program and would be blogging about food the next semester. I knew I could do it but I knew if I started a blog about food & deals it would be a head start. The idea sunk in my head more, so one Thursday when I was finished with my field work on the computer I decided to start the blog. As I mention above and in the title, this was just the manifestation of starting the blog and having the site. I wrote a little paragraph about my concept, etc. It was also written the day before my boyfriend Jason’s birthday last year. You can see my first post, here. As you may notice it’s not much but it’s something!

Like any good thing buying the domain didn’t happen until later. Since I wanted to be the best intern possible, I had to wait to share my eating adventures while I interned and went full on and haven’t stopped writing (except for maybe finals week) since January 11, 2012 and I plan on celebrating a year in 2013! I’m so happy that I can bring you all the information I have whether it be recipes, meeting you readers through Twitter, all of the interviews the last few months and of course my special deals and contest alerts! I also can’t forget where it all began with my restaurant reviews.

I want to end this on a happy note — I found this shirt at Forever 21 today at Garden State Plaza and had to buy it and share it with you all:

It screamed SCBD and was perfect timing with the one year concept anniversary!

I love the quote: Eat, Drink, Be Merry!

I love the colors of this banner with the saying also:

I promise I will have another reflection piece in January. I’d also love to have a happy hour or something to celebrate and would love invite fellow bloggers & readers to celebrate the one year anniversary of the launch so keep the week of January 11th open!

Make sure you are a fan and are following Small Chick Big Deals on Facebook & Twitter for the most ongoing updates! I am always posting deals, recipes, new posts, & more– so it’s the easiest way to get a hold of me also.

Before I get too carried away, I just want to emphasis once more how grateful I am for all you readers, the fellow bloggers I’ve met, businesses I’ve been fortunate to review & work with and all the people I’ve been able to interview & more! I’d also love to thank the staff of The Rachael Ray Show for bringing out my inner foodie last Fall!

I have tons of more posts on the way that you’ll love, but you’ll have to wait! I promise I won’t take too long, can’t wait to tell you all about my recent foodie experiences in the city.

Well on that note–Eat, Drink, and Be Merry! 😀

Budget Bites, by Sara Monica Gaona If you are a lover of Mexican food and delicious cocktails like I am, you are most certainly going to love Blue Moon Mexican Cafe. 5 Reasons #SCBD loves Fairway!

So last month, I moved again & this time I’m the furthest North I’ve ever resided in New Jersey. No complaints– I love it, especially since I am that much closer to NYC now. But that also meant adjusting where I get my groceries. The selection up here is awesome there is the typical Stop & Shop and Pathmark. But there is also a Trader Joe’s (I blogged about them in May) which I love and a new addition to my grocer selection is Fairway. Unlike Trader Joe’s which only sells their own products — which is great & works for them, Fairway sells name brand groceries for cheaper prices & they also have their own coffee, which is amazing! That’s only a few reasons why my new favorite place to grocery shop is Fairway Market, here’s a few more:

1.  Big variety of name brands for less: One time I came in and they 2/$5 jars of Nutella! They have great affordable deals on name brand food and beat Pathmark, etc out of the park! The prices are so reasonable and the selection is huge so you have tons of options!

2. In-store events: They have weekly in-store events and cooking demonstrations at their locations. I’m considering going to one near me soon.

3. Liquor Store: Some of their locations, including the one in Woodland Park, NJ have a liquor store department. I don’t know what could be better than that– you can kill two birds with one stone!

4. Fresh deli, produce & more: I love getting my fish from Fairway, it’s great priced and always fresh. They also have an excellent deli selection and a salad bar when you walk in.

5. Delicious coffee: Fairway has delicious coffee and you have the option of getting your own beans if you prefer to get your coffee that way. They also have it packaged and ready for you too! Yum!

Just an FYI — my two favorite places to get my groceries, which are #foodie accommodating are Trader Joe’s & Fairway Market!

Look out for more posts on the way– on upcoming food events & more!

’til then… happy eating! 😀
